3。5/5。 Lots of good jokes in this one。 Not much of a plot。 Greg is slowly becoming a much more likable character。

The Diary of a Wimpy Kid series is a big hit in my home, loved by my elder son ever since he was 10-years old。 And it goes without saying, that I love to read his books too, especially those that have him clutching his sides and laughing away to glory。 However, I read The Meltdown straight after reading The Getaway (from the same series, of course)。 Now, I have to admit that Meltdown cannot hold a candle to the Getaway, more so since both these books are coming from the same author。 It's the win The Diary of a Wimpy Kid series is a big hit in my home, loved by my elder son ever since he was 10-years old。 And it goes without saying, that I love to read his books too, especially those that have him clutching his sides and laughing away to glory。 However, I read The Meltdown straight after reading The Getaway (from the same series, of course)。 Now, I have to admit that Meltdown cannot hold a candle to the Getaway, more so since both these books are coming from the same author。 It's the winter season and Greg Heffley is out and about the house, trying to make himself useful, but the storyline meanders in the most boring way。 The saving grace came in the form of the last 40 pages or so, when the kids in the neighborhood actually start fighting over turf wars, territories and snow fights。 Not an engaging read, even though I love the characters and the entire series。 。。。more

Fun! Not quite as good as Cabin Fever or Wrecking Ball。 But still 👍

At least Greg’s attitude is improving ever-so-slightly。

This is a great book for everyone that loves Wimpy Kid books。 There is a lot of humour in this book and also very simple and enjoying to read!Greg hates the winter season because it's freezing cold。 He tries all the range of possibilities on how to keep warm and also has a little adventure。 This ended with a massive snowball fight。This an awesome book! The snowball fight was really fun! Also I would’ve fought over a blanket a couple of weeks ago too。 I also want a pet pig now but I don’t want it to be as smart as the Heffley’s。 That one seems like it could be a pain in the butt。

This was the least entertaining book in the series for me。 Over time my interest in these books has died as they are just insights into a selfish and pathetic kid who can't grow up。 I know that it's a favourite among children, but there's a reason for that。 Children are annoying, selfish and don't know any better。 I don't think I intend to read another book from Kinney。 This was the least entertaining book in the series for me。 Over time my interest in these books has died as they are just insights into a selfish and pathetic kid who can't grow up。 I know that it's a favourite among children, but there's a reason for that。 Children are annoying, selfish and don't know any better。 I don't think I intend to read another book from Kinney。 。。。more

This is a really good story。 In the book they had gotten a ton of snow。 and almost all of the power was off due to the heavy amounts of snow。its almost like the event in texas at the moment。But its a good book。

High interest, easy to read (with cartoons) for grades 4-8, and popular with younger and older age ranges too。 I've been reading this in Spanish to practice my bilingual skills (I'm by no means fluent in Spanish, but I am trying to expand beyond what I learned in high school), and I can report that the easy-to-read format (short paragraphs, lots of illustrative cartoons) is really good for language learners, as well as for kids that maybe don't like to read that much。 I can't speak for how good High interest, easy to read (with cartoons) for grades 4-8, and popular with younger and older age ranges too。 I've been reading this in Spanish to practice my bilingual skills (I'm by no means fluent in Spanish, but I am trying to expand beyond what I learned in high school), and I can report that the easy-to-read format (short paragraphs, lots of illustrative cartoons) is really good for language learners, as well as for kids that maybe don't like to read that much。 I can't speak for how good the Spanish translation is, since I'm not fluent, but I did notice at least one typo (most likely the Spanish version doesn't benefit from having as many editors, or perhaps any editors, as the original English does)。 。。。more

First i'll start off with a summary, this book is about a big winter rivalry, Greg (wimpy kid) lives on surrey street and this street is divided between 'upper' surrey street because it's a hill, and lower surrey street because it's flat。 Both of those sides of the street have always been in conflict, in the summer the kids on upper surrey street want to live on the flat side of the street, why? Not to mention because of the uphill walks to school, but also you can actually play with a BALL on First i'll start off with a summary, this book is about a big winter rivalry, Greg (wimpy kid) lives on surrey street and this street is divided between 'upper' surrey street because it's a hill, and lower surrey street because it's flat。 Both of those sides of the street have always been in conflict, in the summer the kids on upper surrey street want to live on the flat side of the street, why? Not to mention because of the uphill walks to school, but also you can actually play with a BALL on it, and in winter the kids in lower surrey street want to live on upper, this is because of the fact that in all of the winter they can go sledding all they want, also none of the kids in the street want to divide and mix up upper with lower kids so that's why there is conflict。 All was going well, each side of the street respected the other and it was just a matter of time in which someone started a problem all over again, and so someone did。 It was a bloody war you could say, snowballs were the main 'weapon', and somehow Greg escaped the war alive after a lot of close calls。 In the end a plow goes over there street and all the snow is gone, greg reflects on himself with a pat on the back admiring his skills to survive in any situation, "Because is human beings are around 500 million years from now, its gonna be thanks to the Greg Heffley's in the world"(217 Kinney)。 Next, my favorite character in the book was definitely Greg, and there are many reasons why he is my favorite character。 Greg is a character that is very easy to compare yourself with。 He comes up with all these crazy ideas which are normal for us teenagers when we are growing up since we are still developing our sense of reality。 For example Greg one time starts cleaning and giving compliments to the microwave and all the electronics in his house just in case one day there is a robot revolution, "I've actually been PREPARING for when the robots take over by sucking up to the appliances in my house, 'you're looking good today。' "(6 Kinney)。 Also he mentions Global Warming, and the fact that is the temperatures keep on rising he will ride a camel to school, "If the world is getting hotter, I just hope this doesn't happen too fast。 Because if things keep up at this rate, I'll be riding a camel to school"(2 Kinney)。 these types of things make you feel connected to greg and bring you to liking him more。 Also something super relatable from Greg is the sibling problem which we all have, Greg, Rodirick, and Manny (all siblings) got this blanket which was super comfortable and fantastically warm as a present for christmas, there is just one thing though which was they had to share it, and so much things happened that ceased them from sharing the blanket that his mother actually made a 24 page manual titled "Blanket Rules And Regulations"。 Still that didn't change things and so Greg's mother donated it to someone else and Greg was obviously mad with his siblings but also sad because he said that it was his favorite type of blanket。 The author definitely intended this reaction of the readers, Jeff Kinney purposely writes these fiction stories so that middle to high school kids can reflect on themselves and notice similarities in Greg's life with there own。 Ultimately I really was amused by this book, and I would definitely recommend this book, but to a very strict audience。 This is because I have a background knowledge of the types of comedies and fiction passages that people over the ages of 18 like, and there are not many reviews of people older then 15 who report liking this book。 Also the author intended this book to be for more young people from the age span of 7-14, and so I would recommend this book to anyone in that age span (7-14)。 The deep sense of connection with Greg and the laughs you get from this book are awesome。 Also you do learn some lessons in this book that you could actually take on to life。 For example finding reliable friends, learning to appreciate what you did, and taking advantage of what you already have。 This book is something that any kid my age would like, and it's one of the few books that people who necessarily don't like reading books in general, enjoy this book。 Anyone from the age span of 7-14 will not regret spending money on this remarkable book。 。。。more

First book we read in the series。 It was hilarious, we enjoyed it very much。

Even though the books of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series are out of my age range now, I decided to pick up this book for a fun quick read to see how much has changed since I left off six years ago。 I was delighted to see that the series has maintained its charm for a new generation, catching myself even laughing out loud a few times。 This is a great read for kids (。。。 as well as young adults who want to reminisce nostalgically)
